Description:
This two-day workshop invites participants into a shared vocal practice centered on listening, presence, and collective sound. Drawing inspiration from traditional polyphonic singing practices from Georgia and Corsica, we will explore how distinct vocal lines can come together into a living, breathing musical form. During the workshop, participants will also learn selected songs from the Mediterranean region (including Corsica and Sicily) as well as from Georgia.
As leaders of the workshop, we bring long-term practice in researching and working with polyphonic traditions as members of Teatr ZAR, where polyphonic singing has been a central element in the dramaturgy of our performances. Through guided exercises and group exploration, we will focus on voicing together–developing awareness of the individual voice within the ensemble while building a unified musical body.
An essential part of the work is creating harmonies, learning and embodying simple polyphonic structures, and exploring the dynamics of group singing. Rather than focusing on technical perfection, the workshop emphasizes connection, responsiveness, and the experience of sound as a living, relational process.
Participants will engage in practices that support vocal openness, breath, and resonance, while discovering how multiple voices can interweave into a rich and dynamic whole. The process draws on traditional and contemporary approaches to polyphony, adapted to the group’s needs and experience.
The work will include the approach to the voice through the body and movement. We will explore how physical awareness and simple movement practices can support vocal freedom, resonance, and connection. By engaging the body as an active source of voice, participants will discover how sound emerges from and is shaped by physical presence.

Who is it for? No advanced musical training is required – only a willingness to listen, to sing, and to be part of a collective creative process.
Language: workshop will be facilitated in English

Schedule: 10:00 – 16:00 /we will have one hour lunch break
